Feeling Nervous? Don't Be

Most women come along to their first class feeling a little nervous, and apprehensive. Many worry about their age, weight, shape, size, looks, appearance etc. Please don't worry about these concerns, the classes are open to a diverse range of people, all of whom will have the same concerns. Your instructor will soon put you at ease, relieve you of any concerns and ensure you have a great time. The classes are held in a supportive, open and friendly manner, and everything is optional, there is no pressure, and just remember if you're feeling nervous, all the other students are in the same boat and feeling the same way. Pole Diamonds classes are safe and effective.

What should I wear for the pole dancing / fitness lessons?

You will need to wear comfortable gym style clothing with a pair of trainers for the warm up. A comfortable top which you can move in. Shorts are ideal for your bottom half, as you will need to be able to grip the pole with your legs, (trousers tend to be too slippery). If you are nervous about wearing shorts, then you can always wear trousers and then roll them up when you need to. For the intermediate course, short shorts or hot pants are essential, as you will be gripping the pole with the top of your legs. Please kindly note, it is important that you do not have any moisturisers, creams, lotions on your hands or body, as these make the pole slippery and can be dangerous. Please remember to bring water to keep you hydrated and your own hand towel.

What do I need to wear / bring for the burlesque course

You need to make sure you're wearing comfortable clothing. We recommend wearing general gym gear, although if you'd like to wear something a little more sexy to build your confidence that is fine, but please make sure it's comfortable and you can move freely in it. You do not need to bring any high heels. You do need to bring a pair of gloves ideally a pair of burlesque / opera gloves. Also, on one of the classes you'll need to bring a pair of stockings or hold ups and a tie. Please also remember to bring water with you to keep you hydrated.

Who comes to the classes?

Our students are from all walks of life and include all ages, shapes and sizes. We have a diverse range of students, all with different abilities, levels of fitness, goals and aims.

Do I have to be really fit to participate?

No. The classes are open to every one of all fitness levels. Many people attend the classes because they are a fun and exciting way of getting fit, students often start off with little fitness but very quickly develop through the classes and start to reap the benefits. Other women use pole fitness and dancing to complement their current training. Over the course of the sessions you'll find yourself getting fitter, more toned stronger and finding muscles you never knew existed. No matter your fitness level when you start, you are definitely bound to notice some considerable improvements.

Things to consider regarding pole fitness

From your first class, your body with be a little achy, as you're using your muscles in a way you never have before. However, after your first couple of lessons you'll find that you're body becomes more used to it and you no longer ache as much. Also, please note, this whole lot of fun can leave you with some bruises on your body. The bruises happen when you're learning new moves, mainly from over gripping the pole. Don't worry, these bruises will soon be worn with pride, showing that you've been learning some new tricks, and as your body becomes more used to the moves it will become conditioned and you'll get less bruising.
